Let’s get to it!
Try Canva Pro free for 30 Days
If you don’t have one already, make sure you sign up for a Canva account. You can create amazing designs with the free version, but I personally recommend opting for Canva Pro if you plan on batch creating graphics for your blog, social media account or business website.
Canva Pro is incredibly affordable and you get unlimited access to over a million elements, premium stock photos, graphics, the ability to upload custom fonts and other design features. The subscription cost is truly such a small price to pay for all that you get in return!

For this particular feature, it doesn’t matter which dimensions you choose for your graphic. You can either create a new post or select an existing one.

2. Add Text to Your Design
If you want to use the text animation feature, you will first need to add a layer of text to your design!
Feel free to explore the range of font combinations that Canva has to offer, or use the following articles as a starting guide to the best serif, sans-serif and cursive typefaces that are available in Canva:
If you don’t have time to sift through those guides just yet, you can add a simple layer of text to your design using the ‘T’ keyboard shortcut
3. Choose Your Animated Text Effect
Applying the text animation is simple — just follow the steps below.
Select your desired text
Click the icon that says > Animate
A panel will display on the left-hand side of your Canva editor. You will see 2 tabs: ‘Page Animations’ and ‘Text Animations’.
Select ‘Text Animations’ and you will find a selection of fun animations to choose from. These will be organized under the following categories:
Basic
Simple Writing
Bold Writing
Scale
Exaggerate
Slide in & Out
Hover your mouse over each animation until you find one that fits your style/design. Once satisfied, simply tap or click on the animation to apply it to your design.
The list of animations includes:
Ascend
Baseline
Block
Bounce
Breathe
Burst
Drift
Fade
Neon
Pan
Pop
Rise
Roll
Scrapbook
Shift
Skate
Stomp
Tectonic
Tumble
Typewriter
And that’s it! You can now make any adjustments necessary to create your animated design. This may take some practice and playing around to see what settings work best for your specific style.
4. Export Your Animated Design
Once you’re finished making changes to your design, you can download the animation in MP4 or GIF format.
Pro Tip: Make sure to save this design with a keyword-rich title so you can easily search for it in the future! This tip is particularly useful if you plan on creating a lot of marketing graphics, as it can be difficult to try and sift through hundreds (or thousands!) of designs.
